Journal History

Journal „MIKROBIOLOGIJA“ was a publication of a Yugoslav Union of Microbiological Societies, as a B series of ACTA BIOLOGICA IUGOSLAVICA, which was published by the Yugoslav Union of Biological Sciences. The first volume of the Journal was published in 1964 and was biannual until 1978. From 1979 to 1999, each volume had three issues per year, and again from the 2000 biannual edition until its suspension in 2006 with a final 43rd volume.

The main editor was dr Momcilo Kojic, the assistant editor was dr Marija Sutic, and the rest of the editorial board was composed dr Gligorije Antonovic, dr Marina Bujko, dr Janko Dumanovic, dr Bogdan Djuriciz, dr Vitko Soric, dr Ivica Radovic. Journal had contents of average 5 original scientific papers written in English with an abstract both in English and Serbian language. Articles had to be up to 16 printed pages and might have been original papers, reviews of the problems, and critical retrospectives from general medicine, veterinary, agriculture and technological microbiology. All submitted articles were critically reviewed by the journal’s editorial committee. Authors of accepted manuscripts were provided with 20 free reprints of the respective volume, and the additional copies might been ordered at their own cost.

Manuscripts submission was done manually, by sending a hard copy to the Redaction of the journal „MIKROBIOLOGIJA“, Yugoslav Union of Biological Sciences, Nemanjina 6, P.O.Box 44, 11080 ZEMUN, Serbia. The printing was done by the department for the graphical activity of the Institute „Jaroslav Cerni“.
