This journal is published biannually, meaning that two issues are published yearly.
Peer review process
Journal Mikrobiologija (Microbiology Belgrade?) follows the double-blind peer review process. Reviewers and editors don’t know the authors’ identities, and the reviewer’s identity is kept from the authors. The reviewers’ identities are also kept anonymous from each other.
Upon submission, a manuscript is first subjected to technical review by the journal staff and editorial team to ensure that all necessary information is included and that they meet the publication standards. After completing the initial quality check, each new submission is assigned to a Scientific Editor with relevant expertise. If the Scientific Editor deems the paper worthy of a formal review, the manuscript will be sent for external appraisal by acknowledged experts in the subject field. Each manuscript will be subjected to rigorous and anonymous peer review by a minimum of 2 peer reviewers.
A decision to reject the manuscript can be made at any point in the evaluation process, with or without peer review. However, a Scientific Editor makes the final decision on every manuscript.
Authors will be invited to revise their manuscripts if the editor believes the manuscript has potential for publication. Revised manuscripts are usually reassigned to the original Scientific Editor. The editor may make a new decision based on the assessment of the revised manuscript and the author’s response to reviewers, or the editor may request an additional external peer review.
